Dear Reader,
Hello readers. Hope you enjoy reading my blog. This time too, I came again with eatery. Though not a posh place but the most renowned place during 90's. Said to be one of the most famous eateries in Dadar. If people from abroad visit Mumbai, They should surely visit this place. This place should get that much of equivalent fame just like 'DABBAWALAS OF MUMBAI' who are recognized by the royal households of England. I only visited this place only once. Dadar was once famous for three things- Chhabildas High School, shopping and this eatery. As name suggests, this place is famous for snack called 'BATAWADA.' I and my mom went to Siddhivinayak temple in Dadar. After that we went shopping and came across this eatery. My mom said me that this place used to be dead crowded and there used to be huge line to place order which is true and it is still crowded. Not only batata Wada, but we get everything like juices, chaats, Chinese food, pav, frankie etc.
Unbelievable but this place is still famous as it was 20 years ago. When I came to this place, I saw many people ordering batata Wada. Though this eatery is famous for everything but batata Wada is their special and a signature dish. Whoever came to this place mostly ordered batata Wada, frankie and lastly chaat. My mom said to me that they make incredible chaat especially bhel puri. I and my mom ordered noodle schezwan frankie and tokri chaat. Both of them were excellent and well flavored. Frankie was tangy, chewy and savory. It was little bit spicy but they can work on it. Overall it was good. Tokri chaat was crunchy from outside and is well balance in sweetness of tamarind, sourness of curd and spiciness.
Since I didn't order batata Wada, I asked people about it. To their opinion, they said that it was the best batata Wada they ever ate.It was crunchy outside and soft, well flavored and cooked well from inside. We ended our meal by ordering sweet lemon juice. It was fresh and sweet. As far as price is concerned it is reasonable and worthy. We got to eat these food in a pretty good amount. But hygiene is something they should take care of. There was only two benches where we can keep our plate and eat otherwise we have to stand and eat. Besides the table itself is not clean. So the ambiance is not good and they should work on it. Menu composition is good and there were so many choices that we feel like visiting the eatery again and again. There was no special presentation and food was presented to us in a simple manner. Service of the food was quick. They take your order in a proper and orderly manner and prepare order as fast as they can.
Though not posh and clean but it is the most preferred eatery of Dadar. If I have to give the score
Service: 8/10
Ambiance: 5/10
Price: 9/10
Taste: 9/10
Menu Composition: 8/10
Presentation: 5/10
So the overall rating is 7.3/10. Maybe the reason of moderate rating is because of ambiance and presentation. If they are planning to open a branch all over Mumbai, ensure that eatery should be neat, clean, presentation and hygiene. This ensure that they will get more customer and their business will flourish even more because when it comes to taste, it is best eatery.
Thank you to all who read my blog. Hope you visit this place and please do not hesitate because of its ambiance. Please post your opinion in my email address and hope I get positive reviews about the eatery.
Thank You.
